HOME DESIGN PROCESS
Building a home can be an overwhelming task. Here are some simple steps to help you along the way.
a) Establish your overall budget. This is the total amount you will have to both buy and develop your lot, and build your home.
b) Decide what size home you will be able to build. Be sure to consider all areas such as house plans, landscaping, ammenities, etc... in this figure.
c) Choose the area of town you like and find a subdivision where lots are available. Tour the subdivision and make an inventory of the homes in the area. Note the sizes and "extras" of the newer homes and of those under construction. Check out the selling prices and use that as a guide for your budget. If you are using a real estate agent or a builder, they should also be able to help with your assessment.
d) Factor in the fact that most subdivisions have a set of covenants and restrictions residents must follow. These would include minimum square footage requirements and exterior finishes requirements. Consider this when deciding if a subdivision is suitable for your new home.Next-> Choose your Lot and Home Plans
