2. CHOOSING YOUR LOT
Lots and homes are very interdependent. Not every lot is right for every home and visa-versa. For example, flat lots are not suitable for full basements and slab foundations do not work well on sloping land. Keep all this in mind when choosing the land for your home. You may not have a house plan yet, but you probably have some idea of the style home you prefer.
Now, you have your budget. You have your lot. It is time to pick your home plan. Keep your budget and lot in mind throughout the rest of the process.
3. CHOOSING YOUR HOME DESIGN
At Paul Gilbert Distinctive Designs there are three general methods of choosing a house plan:
a) Browse through the Home Plan Gallery. We have over 2000 established floor plan designs to pick from. This is the quickest and most economical way to choose your house plan.
b) Nothing quite right? We can modify the designs to suit your taste. We can also mix and match certain elements of different plans. For example, we can use a kitchen from one plan and a bedroom from another. Our computerized system allows us to do this in a fraction of the time needed to draw by hand.
c) Want something very specific or very new? Custom designing is no problem. We will listen to your ideas and design a home plan around them. We can work from your ideas, or ours, as suits you. Our goal is to create the home plan that best fits your needs and your desires.
